Biography
Francesco Napoleoni is an Italian Spieltenor, educated very young in the “G. Bricciardi” Conservatory in his home town, Terni, and then he privately trained in Milan with the Maestro Vittorio Terranova. Very important for his technical-vocal development is the acquaintance with the tenor Antonio Gandìa in a masterclass held in the Zarzuela Theatre in Madrid.
He majored at the Accademia di alto perfezionamento in the Puccini Festival at Torre del Lago, where he played as student in two Tuscan Opera Studio: LTL, which led to his debut in Febr. 2016 at Teatro del Giglio in Lucca with the Merry Widow (Franz Lehar) and then MOF (where he won a scholarship after attending a masterclass with the soprano Fiorenza Cedolins) with a following debut at Teatro Goldoni in Livorno in the Il Tabarro (Giacomo Puccini).
He cooperated with several important lyric Foundations (Festival Puccini Torre del Lago, Luglio Musicale Trapanese, Ente Concerti Marialisa de Carolis, Teatro Coccia in Novara, Teatro Goldoni in Livorno, Teatro del Giglio in Lucca, Teatro Verdi in Pisa, Teatro Sociale in Rovigo, Teatro Lirico G. Verdi in Trieste, Teatro Massimo Bellini in Catania, International Festival Varna Summer, Opera Nazionale Tirana, Changsha Meixihu International Culture and Art Centre, Opera Română Craiova, Opera Braşov), by which he was cast in important productions under the direction of important conductors, such as Marcello Rota, Enrico Calesso, Federico Santi, José Cura, Dmitri Jurowski, Nir Kabaretti, Jacopo Brusa, Alberto Veronesi, Hirofumi Yoshida, Beatrice Venezi, Fabrizio Da Ros, Giovanni Di Stefano, Jacopo Sipari di Pescasseroli, Giovanni Pompeo, Fabio Mastrangelo, Nicola Paszkowski, Manuela Ranno, Pietro Mianiti, Dumitru Cârciumaru and important directors such as Giancarlo del Monaco, Hugo de Ana, Enrico Vanzina, Dieter Kaegi, Henning Brockhaus, Maurizio Scaparro, Massimo Gasparon Contarini Pizzi, Ivan Stefanutti, Fabio Sparvoli, Manu Lalli, Daniele Abbado, Emanuele Gamba, Daniele de Plano, Giandomenico Vaccari, Chris Catena, Alfonso Signorini, Salvo Piro, Renato Bonajuto.
He is cast for the opening of Puccini Festival 2016 concert, Puccini Raro, and he received a special mention at “Premio Accademia Amici del Festival Pucciniano” in Torre del Lago. He attended the Masterclasses of the soprano Fiorenza Cedolins, of the basso Roberto Scandiuzzi, of the baritono Silvano Carroli, of the Maestro Eugenio Fogliati and of the conductor Maurizio Barbacini.
In November 2019 he debuted with success in the role of Don Basilio in the “Le Nozze di Figaro” (W.A. Mozart) at the Teatro Goldoni in Livorno under the musical direction of Maestro J. Sipari and the direction of Massimo Gasparon Contarini Pizzi.
In August 2020 he debutet as Goro in the “Madama Butterfly” (G. Puccini) at the 66° Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago under the musical direction of Maestro Enrico Calesso and the direction of Manu Lalli. In July 2021 he performs in the Lyric Concert for the summer season of the Social Theater of Rovigo. In August/ December 2021 he performs as Tinca in the “Il Tabarro” (G. Puccini) at the Opera Română Craiova under the direction of Maestro Dimitru Carciumaru and with the stage director of Chris Catena. In June 2022 he debuted as Gherardo in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi at the International Festival Varna Summer under the direction of Maestro Giovanni Pompeo and with the stage director of Edna Garabedian.
In July/August 2022 he performs again as Goro in the “Madama Butterfly” (G. Puccini) at the 68° Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago.
Next november 2022 he will make his debut as Cassio in Verdi’s Otello at the Opera Română Craiova in Craiova and Brașov. In January/February 2023 he is singing Don Basilio in “Le Nozze di Figaro” (W. A. Mozart) at Teatro del Giglio di Lucca and also at Teatro Verdi di Pisa. Next September 2023 he will sing at the Tirana National Opera as tenor in Mendelssohn’s Elias under the direction of Maestro Facundo Agudin.
Next October/November 2023 and January/February 2024 he is singing in “Il flauto Magico” (W. A. Mozart) at the Teatro Verdi Trieste under the direction of Maestro Jacopo Brusa and with the stage director of Andrea Binetti. In December 2023 he is singing in “La Traviata” (G. Verdi) at the Teatro Massimo Bellini Catania under the direction of Maestro José Cura and with the stage director of Henning Brockhaus.
In April 2024 he is singing Pang in Puccini’s Turandot at the Teatro Goldoni in Livorno under the direction of Maestro Pietro Mianiti and with the stage director of Daniele Abbado and Emanuele Gamba. Next October 2024 he is singing as Il Tinca and Gherardo in “Il Trittico” (G. Puccini) at the Teatru Aurora Gozo, Malta, under the direction of Maestro Colin Attard and with the stage director of Riccardo Buscarini.
Next December 2024 he is singing as Gastone in “La Traviata” (G. Verdi), at the Teatro Verdi Pisa and Teatro Pergolesi Jesi, under the direction of Maestro Nir Kabaretti and the stage director of Henning Brockhaus.
In January 2025 he is singing as Pedrillo in Mozart’s Die Enthfürung aus dem Serail at the Teatro Lirico G. Verdi in Trieste, under the musical direction of Maestro Beatrice Venezi and the direction of Ivan Stefanutti.
In July/August 2025 he is singing as Spoletta in Puccini’s Tosca at the Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago Puccini, under the musical direction of maestro G. Croci and the direction of Alfonso Signorini, alongside the most important international singers.
In October 2025 he in singing as Trabuco in Verdi’s “Forza” at the teatro Aurora in Malta, under the direction of maestro Attard and the stage direction of Riccardo Buscarini.
In November 2025 he is singing as thirth jude in Strauss’s Salome in Sassari (Ente de carolis) under the direction of Maestro Federici Santi and the stage direction of Hugo de Ana.
